so far 2015 Winter Plans for Team...
To help the girls prepare for the future and next stage of advanced development we have embarked on a rigorous training program that starts with Parisi Speed School Training to help girls become the best athletically they can be plus adding an outstanding winter softball program that gets support from Tsunami players that have come back to mentor and help our team.
The list of girls is really exciting and provides such leverage for our team to aspire to compete at the highest level. Here is short list of our girls coming back to help including getting amazing training from Steph Pasqual
(All American from Nebraska) who is working hard with our catchers :)
Gabby Castelli-WPU, Mikayla Melendez and Nicole Hernadez Ramapo, Kaela Romano- Albright..
Ashley Kowalski-Virginia Tech, Holly Arentowitz- Stockton, Carly Benjami- Desalles just to name a few
Also getting some HS Starting Pitcher the opportunity to prepare for the season and at same time play live games vs. out team and players. A real Win-Win.
Alexa Pettit from Jefferson HS and Madison Wronko from Lenape...many more NJAC pitchers will be coming in and help our girls be the best they can be.
What an amazing dynamic is being formed where we ask our girls to be pushed as hard as they can in advanced pressure situations and they are flourishing. The 2nd part for our young team will be playing at Diamond Nation this winter in the 18U HS League. The Goal is simple...play up as much as we can so they are prepared for anything as they get ready for HS next year. Looking forward to seeing the girls perform and use the winter to have an outstanding Spring and Summer...
Go Tsunami and Thanks so much to all the past players who have come so far and to those who will be coming over the winter.

Winter Diamond Nation 18U/HS League
Why bring a group of 7th and 8th grade players into 18U/HS League?
The entire plan for our team this winter surrounds practices with purpose, that highlights pressure induced plays where girls on offense and defense are pushed into toughest situation play so they can learn to play confidently and understand they can and will succeed at whatever they put their minds to. Adding to that is playing the 18U/HS league where again we expect to be pushed harder in all phases of the game but older and more capable players with the goal of our girls 'learning' that age is relative and next year in HS they will (like it or not) be playing a 4 year age swing when they play Varsity Softball. In the end, winning or losing is irrelevant, but was important is effort and 'learning' that they can play with any team.
Each week the girls clearly are expanding their own sites on what they can and cant' do.
So proud of the players and coaches for believing in the plan set forth.
Well Done Tsunami Futures...Well Done :)
Jan 3rd - Tsunami vs. North Hunterdon HS Tie 3-3
Great Start playing solid North Hunterdon Team. Girls Showed Well and never backed down.
Jan 9th - Tsunami vs. Colonia HS Loss 7-1
Should have been 2-1 Final. 1 long tough inning where we needed last out and had many attempts including the last out which hit the Ceiling :( and should have ended inning 2-1. At that point 4 more innings 0-0 score
Jan 16th - Tsunami vs. CJ Fillies (18U Club) Tie 4-4
Pitcher from Fillies throwing 62mph on gun all game (well done Cristina Colon Ex Tsunami). It was a Real Test for girls and they never backed down and took aggressive swings each at bat. We received highest compliments from parents and coaches regarding our girls as they knew our age and it was a great game right from start to finish. Showed Huge fight coming from 4-1 and tie game after back to back to back doubles to tie game. If not for outstanding play from Phillies 2b snaring a game winning line drive we would have won. In all cases a tie vs. a very-very solid 18U team is a win in our books.
Jan 23rd - 27th Tsunami vs. 18U Teams -SNOW CANCELLED OUR FUN. DOME IS DOWN FOR WINTER :(
Feb 6th 16U USSSA WSQ 5-0 Champions
Girls went wire to wire seeding #1 and won 1st 16U Event and earned National Qualifier!
Well Done Girls....The Best is still to come!
Feb 27th 18U USSSA WSQ 2-2 Champions Silver Bracket
Girls Played 18U Event this past weekend and drew 2 of the top teams for seeding and lost tough 10-0 loss to eventual overall winner Sting 18U Gold and went down to last out in 6-5 loss to Fusion Gold. Girls showed they wouldn't back down or be intimidated by ay team and impressed everyone they played. Seeding results put us in Consolation Bracket and girls played impressively winning the Bracket as Champions finishing 2-2 after facing tough Haverford Gold and NYC Rush Teams.

April 2-3 NJ Heat Friendly 14U Howell NJ
Was looking forward to playing Outlaws-Elite, Flames Futures and Heat Futures- ALL # SAME DAY :)
The goal was to look for the 3 toughest teams to play to simulate a worst case scenario on Saturday seeding.
Sadly the weather just didn't cooperate and the event was cancelled. :(
April 9-10 Off
April 16-17 The Rock Spring Fling 14U Chester NY - RUNNER UP 2nd Place!
The girls opened season up with less than typical Tsunami Softball on Saturday going 0-2-1
taking #6 Overall Seed heading into Sunday Elimination Day. At times we played inspired and battled in 1st and 2nd games to tie both games with 2 outs in last inning. One ended in a tie the other was won by Academa Elite in last half of inning. With the season being long we asked the girls to forget the day and play tomorrow as if each game was championship game. They came out inspired and played well right thru the championship game vs a very good Kaboom Team. We always learn from our defeats and team we play. This past weekend we had to play our sister Tsunami team in Semi-Final Game. It was a battle from start to finish and both teams represented Tsunami Softball well. Kudo's to 14U-01 Team on a fine weekend.

Girls worked hard for #1 Seed going 3-0 on Saturday. Played outstanding defense with 4 Double Play's. Girls showed big fight coming from behind in 1st Game vs Shock and then again vs Jersey Girls.
Sunday opened with rematch in Semi-Final Game vs. Shock. In true fashion game went back and forth until Shock tied game in last half of inning forcing ITB. Shock took lead until Futures found a way to come back with walk off double to win the game to get to 2nd finals of season.
Played very poorly with 5 critical errors and lost in finals. Much to build upon as season is for maturing and preparing for Nationals.

April 30-May 1 Off
May 7-8 USSSA Mother's Day Classic WSQ 14U Mansfield NJ - RAIN OUT :(
May 14-15 USSSA May Magic 14U East Hartford CT - 3rd Place Finish.
This was key weekend for girls getting invitation to play in preselected A event in CT. We knew games would be tough as all teams in the event had won many events this year. The team played poorly for the 1st time this year and lost all 3 games on Saturday. Very similar in all games we lost our defensive edge and error's eventually lost and certainly a lesson was learned (why we came in 1st place)
As we have preached to girls how you seed doesn't mean you cant win on Sunday! We played inspired softball vs #2 Seed Rhode Island Thunder Gold and knocked them out setting up rematch in Semi-Final game vs Wildcats.
We played a close-close game thru 4 innings and again we couldn't put tut that last out away when needed and missed our chance at another final round. Like all experiences losing 'educates' you much faster than winning honestly and top completion highlights your areas of focus. Onward and upward girls!

May 28-30 (3 Day Event) Memorial Day Madness (3day Event) 14U Chambersburg PA-Play Back Champs
Having competed at this event a number of times I told girls competition and venue would be incredibly challenging. Girls battled heat and conditions on both Saturday and Sunday going 4-2 in pool play.
Girls overall record should have seeded then 28th in Silver Bracket but due to error on recap of scores event director placed our team in wrong bracket. Unfortunate as girls deserved to play in the Silver Bracket but all we could do was start Monday where they placed team. Rain created havoc with fields and conditions along with poor communications forced our team to play within a 15 minute window earlier that expected. The game was one of the best of the weekend eventually losing in ITB 1-0 in a fiercely contested defensive game.
At that point girls were placed in Play Back Bracket where we learned there were no teams to play?
That was very upsetting as we wanted out chance and playing back to win. Unfortunately you just have to move on and that is what we did. Girls prove time and time again they can play with any team but must work on being more consistent and play with that aggressive Tsunami Style Softball we all know and love.

Well it finally due to happen :( Man did we hit the wall this past weekend. Girls just were exhausted mentally and physically and we just didn't play well with 1 exception in beating #3 Seed on Saturday. Sunday however had a rematch with CJ A's and again the girls simply played uninspired and we will recoup and go back ready in our next event. We will focus on getting back to having FUN and why we play the game.

June 18-19 USSSA 2016 Father's Day Classic 14U Union NJ 3rd PLACE!
After taking a very tough weekend at Blue Chip the girls had 4 excellent practice's where we went back to work with special effort on having fun. Girls play their best when they are loose. We came out with determination and went 3-0 taking #1 Seed. We knew bracket layout would have us play our friends at Shock. In Semi Final game we took an early 4-0 lead and help until 5th inning. We made some errors that lead to allowing Shock to come back to tie game 4-4 and ultimately stretching lead to 7-4. The weekend ended 1 game shy of finals and while you play to win and expect to win we will take the positive turnaround and head in a 16U event this weekend where we are playing up to gain much as much competitive advantage going into Nationals.

Girls Played up this weekend at 16U. Played tough in every game and took the challenge very well to prepare for
nationals. Lost a tough opening game in ITB but the girls battled hard and won next 2 games. Playing up shows your weakness's very fast and that speed helps greatly as girls had a number of double plays to their credit. One key note from the weekend was how quickly the girls adjust at this age. From pitch to pitch and consistently throughout the game. It keep you fully energized and focused. In the end we showed a lot of fight and were in position to win in final 2 innings with runners in scoring position. Girls never quit and that is what the take-a-way should be for them. In every game vs these older teams coaches commented on how good our team was and to keep pushing this group Hard.

Back playing this weekend and girls responded on Sunday after seeding poorly on Saturday. Played very strong with all phases of game working well. Big effort by many including Spin getting back on the mound after terrible line drive hit her a few weeks ago. It is a process and hope she continues to gain confidence as Nationals approach. Proud of her for her efforts. Also big shout out to Mack for helping catch key game on Saturday and Michelle catching 5.6 games in the heat. All with a smile :)
Well done everyone.

July 16-17 USSSA Extreme Summer Heat WSQ -16U Linden NJ 3rd Place Finish!
When most teams take off prior to Nationals our girls were hard at work playing up at 16U at USSSA Summer Xtreme WSQ. They battled all 3 games on Saturday and were primed for a long run Sunday and didn't disappoint. They showed poise and determination to come back in opening round to secure the rematch of a hard fought loss the day before to Blue Fire. The game was epic and battled to a tie and went to ITB. So many plays by so many players ultimately resulted in a win to go to semi-final. Perhaps the best compliment came form Head Umpire who clearly was Tops in his game having Umped College World Series 5 x's in his career. He took the time to let me know 'Coach', you have something special with this group and the way to coach is inspiring. He thanks me for the best 3 games of his summer. In the end we lost a hard fought 4-3 loss to Rage and wished them well in Finals. They helped prepare our girls for Nationals as we leave for Ocean City Maryland!

Jan 23rd - 27th Tsunami vs. 18U Teams -SNOW CANCELLED OUR FUN. DOME IS DOWN FOR WINTER :(

Girls played very well against 2nd year 14U Teams like Saints and Rage White. Both were in Top 5 Seeds for Sunday. Playing up accelerates the mistakes since older players are faster and stronger...thereby providing very rapid feedback. Girls received a lot of praise in winning and losing and as coaches we appreciate the willingness to ignore size or age. Another great learning experience for the team...Enjoy the Weekend Off!

A Year In Review...
It's hard to believe the team was formed last fall and our 1st full year is coming to a close :(
Building a new team is challenging at every level and while that may have been daunting...our girls prove time and time again that we are a team that deserves to be mentioned with top teams currently playing.....
The Girls Qualified for PONY and USSSA Nationals in their 1st season...Well Done!
As we approach PONY Nationals we finished the regular season 34-12-2 with a very-very hard all PONY Schedule!
We played hard, although at critical times we couldn't finish what we started and never lost site of what matters the most which is developing the girls.
Winning is a by-product of all the little things you do at practice, at lessons and then in the heat of battle while playing tournament softball. We have always, and will always be as successful as our collective links will allow....and each link is part of Tsunami Softball that can't be broken.
Don't ever forget that building Greatness doesn't get handed to you, or is even something your born with, it's built over time and honed by hard work and determination....and many times is only realized thru hardship and losses.
In closing I am sure you would agree that we are a hard working group with great team chemistry....that chemistry is also something that can't be forced or created as it must come from the girls and is starting to be something you can feel.
To the Girls...Enjoy PONY Nationals ....Live in the Moment and seize every opportunity life gives you and treat them all as gifts :)
God Bless and with much love and respect for all of you.....Coach Ray
